C’est avec une immense tristesse que nous, le STRASS et Act-up Basel, avons appris aujourd’hui la mort brutale d’Andrew Hunter, fondateur et président du NSWP (Network of Sex Work Projects) et fondateur du APNSW (Asia Pacific Network of Sex Workers).
Il possédait une très grande expertise sur tout ce qui était lié aux droits humains des travailleurSEs du sexe, mais aussi sur l’accès aux médicaments du VIH/sida et de l’hépatite C. Andrew a fait énormément pour les droits des travailleurSEs du sexe, notamment pour l’accès au traitement pour les TDS séropositifVEs en Asie du Sud-Est.
Au-delà de son activisme, Andrew était quelqu’un de profondément inspirant, qui savait conjuguer douceur et humour avec intelligence.
Nous adressons nos plus sincères condoléances à son partenaire, à sa famille, à ses proches, collègues, amiEs, et à touTEs celles et ceux qui l’ont connu et apprécié.
C’est en hommage à Andrew, et à touTEs celles et ceux qui, comme lui, nous ont quittéEs, que nous continuerons à porter avec fierté la lutte pour les droits des travailleurSEs du sexe et l’accès aux médicaments et aux traitements !

PRESS RELEASE : ACT UP-BASEL, STRASS, SHIBA PHURAILATPAM (APN+) ON ANDREW HUNTER : A TERRIBLE LOSS FOR ALL OF US
It is with great sadness that we, the Strass and Act Up-Basel, have learned of the sudden death of Andrew Hunter on December 26th, 2013. Andrew was a founder and president of NSWP (Network of Sex Work Projects) and a founder of APNSW (Asia Pacific Network of Sex Workers).
Andrew was an expert and inspiring advocate on the human rights of sex workers, as well as on issues surrounding the access to medicines for HIV and HCV; this notably included the access to treatment for sex workers in South-East Asia.
Beyond his activism, Andrew was a deeply inspiring person, combining kindness, humour and great intelligence.
We send our heartfelt condolences to his partner, his family, his loved ones, his colleagues and friends, and to all of the many people who he touched during his life.
With Andrew and all of those who have left us in our hearts, we continue with pride in our fight for the rights of sex workers and for access to medicine and treatment!
